A great observation from entrepreneur in residence specialist and generally all round smart man, Will King on the need to keep brands different and simple . The banks for instance (except 1st Direct?) are all mushed together and force themselves to differentiate by product price etc. Consumers are bored and stay where they are. The new breed of digital alternatives is going to shake this tree so hard that the banks will really need to reassess. Simple and different. Make it your mission!
Again, in the UK - albeit once again in politics, we have the astonishing rise of life-time Labour left winger, Jeremy Corbyn. Who, has come from absolutely nowhere to lead opinion polls (um, mmm) in the race to be the Labour party leader. How has he done it? Where has he come from? Will he succeed? Well, again - it's all about him being COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to the other 4 candidates. They all look the same. They all sound the same. A couple are women, a couple are men. We don't really know what they stand for. What they'll do. But, when it comes to Jeremy Corbyn, we do. He's everything David Cameron and the Tories aren't. And that matters. It makes things simple.
